Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Viggan, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the service.

2. Service Description

Viggan is a web application that helps users evaluate food products, menus and meals based on nutrition labels, barcode data, images, selected portion size, user profile, stated goals and meal context. It may also provide daily summaries, meal suggestions, food-storage reminders and optional account-based history.

Viggan is provided as decision support. It is not a medical device, diagnosis tool, treatment plan or substitute for professional health advice.

3. User Responsibility

You are responsible for checking product labels, allergens, ingredient lists and suitability for your own diet. Nutrition and product databases may contain errors or incomplete data.

Image interpretation, optical character recognition, nutrition databases and portion estimates can be incomplete or inaccurate. You must review the result before saving or acting on it. Do not rely on Viggan for urgent, medical or allergy-critical decisions.

4. Third-Party Data and Services

Viggan may use Open Food Facts for barcode-based product data, AWS for hosting, authentication, storage and optional OCR processing, and OpenAI for optional meal-photo and menu interpretation. Third-party services are subject to their own terms and availability.

Open Food Facts data is provided under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0 and must be attributed to Open Food Facts contributors.

5. License Notices

Viggan includes third-party open-source software. License notices are available in the application's Tietoja dialog and in the project notice file.

6. Optional Account

You can use Viggan's core features without an account. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for providing accurate account information. Account-based sync and history depend on network and third-party service availability.

You may delete your account in the application. Account deletion is permanent and removes the account data described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Availability and Changes

Viggan may change, pause or discontinue features at any time. The application is currently an early-stage product and may contain bugs or incomplete functionality.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Viggan and its operator are not liable for damages arising from use of the service, reliance on product data, OCR errors, barcode data errors or nutrition calculations.
